Have you ever tried in your life enjoying with a Fire? Wandering its hotness and appealing sound? Well, I did it! Once you hear Siquijor (Isla del Fuego) or Island of Fire in Central Visayas, Philippines, it has a negative connotation, it is being stereotyped across ages and it is being feared by locals.
But there’s no place for fear once you realized and get mesmerized with the places the island has to offer.
Don’t worry about what you heard; Siquijor has many beautiful old churches like:
1.       St. Francis of the Assisi Church. Built in 1870, made up mostly of corals. It is sign of goodwill, blessing and a faithful welcome to tourists.

2.       Lazi Church and Convent. The church is made of corals and hard wood. Situated in front is the striking oldest convent in Asia surrounded by century-old trees. You can find a museum displaying oldest religious images of various saints - made up of hard wood – upstairs. While stepping in, it gives you a sound of history.
What about a tough tree? A 400-year old Balete Tree is beckoning you to have some glimpse of history and teach you how to be tough amidst all the storms.

3.       The 400-year old Balete Tree. It gives you a quite creepy ambience, but don’t hesitate to take a shot and enjoy the ticklish and relaxing feeling the fish spa has to offer while you play with the fresh water school of fish.

This Island is synonymous to adventure also. Let’s look at what we can discover…
4.       Cambugahay Falls. A three cascading falls. This is not just an ordinary falls, and locals say that this is made up of enchanted water… forget it, have some fun! You’ll never forget the breath-taking Tarzan-liked swing experience in one of the trees swaying over the blue-green water. It will make you realize that it’s worth the time and effort to hike the 135-step staircase on the way to the falls. Isn’t it fun?
5.       Salagdoong Beach Resort. It is run by the provincial government; an entrance fee of fifteen (15) pesos is your ticket to a never ending cliff diving, kayaking and simply walking around the resort after the hustle and bustle of the metropolis.

6.       Capilay Spring. A fresh water spring anticipates swim-loving people. This is a harbor of the locals to cool down.

Well, speaking of God’s masterpiece, I’ve seen him drawing the spectacular sunset…

7.       TRIAD. Located at the town of Larena, this mushroom-shaped abode is a haven for weddings, pre-nups, sightseeing and food tripping. It is located at the top of a hill, overlooking Cebu, Bohol and Negros Islands – thus called TRIAD which means three (3). If the good weather permits, you can see all three islands with your naked eye. Moreover, the spectacular sunset awaits you, and it seems God likes to draw in bold one…

And pristine water and white sand beaches… you couldn’t ask for more…
8.       Experiencing a tranquil life... white sand beach and turquoise water at Blue Wave Resort…

Indeed, sabbatical moments in the island of fire get you burned with respectable experiences, burning with facts, unveiling the mystery and breaking the centuries stereotyping. Fear nothing, as long as God is awake, don’t be afraid, and just keep on traveling anyway and you’ll find God’s creations along your way…
